The Battle

A hard-working man deserves a helping hand every now and then
And a good-hearted woman deserves some love when she can’t take no more bend
There’s too many stressors in this life are you gonna make it to the end
Put your nose to the stone even when you’re home and then do it all again
I’m getting tired of this drive called life but don’t you take the wheel from my hands
I keep pushing but the pressure’s getting high I keep sinkin’ in the sand
A successful life is a sharp ole knife it only fits a certain type of man
Takin’ tolls on so many souls, movin’ up the ladder once again
I keep wishin’ I was fishin’ on the river bank runnin’ water underneath the sun
I keep looking over my shoulder I guess I’m searching for someone
Its my long lost soul nowhere to go and a jackal hidin’ in the shrubs
With a surgeon’s knife looking to end my life and welcome me to the club
Instead of turning around I throw my pole to the ground I rip the mossy oak from my side
I take the jackal to the ground in this knockout round part of the battle that I call life
We’ve got the hunger fight, killers in the night and soldiers that don’t come home
Politicians lie sticks and stones do fly are we willing to draw the line
People say we’re all alike and when the situation’s right they choose to let it go
These hypocritical rights are on my fighting side Lord, please redeem my soul
I keep wishin’ I was fishin’ on the river bank runnin’ water underneath the sun
I keep looking over my shoulder I guess I’m searching for someone
Its my long lost soul nowhere to go and a jackal hidin’ in the shrubs
With a surgeon’s knife looking to end my life and welcome me to the club
Instead of turning around I throw my pole to the ground I rip the mossy oak from my side
I take the jackal to the ground in this knockout round part of the battle that I call life

Navy Man

Sprouted up from the heartland where the corn grows high
And a tall sky of thunder rollin’ in
Got a check for college from the Blue, Red, and White
After signin’ that contract sellin’ my soul to them
I went flyin’ low and fast On a clear May day off the California coast
I’m a Navy man But I’m lost at sea and you can feel the presence of my ghost
I had no path that was callin’ me away So to pay the bills I went on to defend our land
They had me flyin’ in planes when I trained and to this day
Nobody can say if my boots are buried in the sand
I went flyin’ low and fast On a clear May day off the California coast
I’m a Navy man But I’m lost at sea and you can feel the presence of my ghost
I went flyin’ low and fast On a clear May day off the California coast
I’m a Navy man But I’m lost at sea and you can feel the presence of my ghost

The Devil's Highway

Had my run with the devil in 2017
I was down at the bottom no I couldn’t be seen
Well I’ve had my share of fun, and that life ain’t for me
But every now and then I like to let my dark side breathe
When I’m drunk I might try to rough it up been known to look for a fight
You never know what’ll happen that’s why I carry my knife
Got myself into trouble more than twice
Gotta think one of these days I might lose my life
I know I gotta slow down on this crazy train
But this all must stem from my life of pain
I dug myself from the bottle and that burning flame
I’ve been walkin’ the line and all I wish for is fame
I’ve cleaned my act up but that sin still remains
I guess that’s just part of life traveling on the devil’s highway
I’ve held a few fine lookin’ ladies
Nothin’ like blonde hair blue eyes callin’ me baby
They never end up hangin’ around too long
I’m startin’ to learn I must’ve been doin’ something wrong
That devil knows girls are my weakness
I’m always broken-hearted Lord that must be his secret
I dug myself from the bottle and that burnin’ flame
I’ve been walkin’ the line and all I wish for is fame
I’ve cleaned my act up but that sin still remains
I guess that’s just part of life travelin’ on that devil’s highway
The devil’s highway On that devil’s highway

Come Home Soldier

I’ve been through bad times You don’t even know
I’ve got some stories that no TV will show You don’t believe me that’s fine I’ll let you go
My dark shadows got their hands up on my throat
Finished my deployment 7 months overseas I got back to the states nobody had a job for me
I served my country instead of getting a law degree
Now my thoughts at night they’re haunting all my dreams
They’re blood brothers can’t you see their souls washed in red mud
They got it on brother for you and me so we don’t have to worry none
Without them where would we be I don’t wanna think about it son
They’re tough lovers Come home soldier come home
Here’s to the many who didn’t make it back
Why am I one of the chosen few able to walk out of Iraq
Before I left I remember saying goodbye to the ones I love
Everybody told me just come home soldier come home
They’re blood brothers can’t you see their souls washed in red mud
They got it on brother for you and me so we don’t have to worry none
Without them where would we be I don’t wanna think about it son
They’re tough lovers Come home soldier come home
They’re blood brothers can’t you see their souls washed in red mud
They got it on brother for you and me so we don’t have to worry none
Without them where would we be I don’t wanna think about it son
They’re tough lovers Come home soldier come home
